Hi! I’m Janine, an artist drawn to memory, mood, and the quiet emotional landscapes we carry inside us.
My work explores the in-between: moments of stillness, longing, reflection, and becoming. I’m interested in how colour, form, and space can hold feeling without needing to explain it - how a single line, a softened edge, or a bold field of colour can say what words sometimes can’t.
Much of my creative practice is shaped by reinvention. I’m fascinated by the idea that we move through many versions of ourselves over a lifetime, and that art can act as a tangible form to recognize who we are now or who we once were. My pieces often balance structure and softness, restraint and emotion, clarity and ambiguity. I create as a form of connection - with myself and with you.
When I’m not painting, I’m thinking about storytelling, scent, music, and how different senses intersect. I live in Edmonton with my pug, Jasper, who is both studio assistant and emotional support supervisor.
Thank you for being here.
